Radosław Sikorski Called Poland's Behavior in the Order of the White Eagle Situation Inadequate

According to Radosław Sikorski, Zelenskyy could have chosen a different name for the Special Operations Forces unit named after the Heroes of the UPA. The minister noted that although the UPA fought against Soviet rule, its members also committed murders of the Polish population, and this should have been taken into account.
At the same time, the head of Polish diplomacy believes that Warsaw's response was excessive.
«Our reaction was also inadequate, as it personally humiliated the President of Ukraine,» he said.
According to Sikorski, instead of revoking the state award, another symbolic decision could have been made. As an example, he mentioned the possibility of renaming the airport in border Rzeszów in honor of the UPA victims.
The minister also noted that with his move, Polish President Karol Nawrocki deprived himself of the opportunity to conduct a dialogue with the head of Ukraine, which is in a state of war.
Sikorski emphasized that the final decision on Ukraine's accession to the European Union will depend on the position of member states, including the signature of the Polish president after the completion of negotiations.
