Sabalenka and Shymanovich Learned Their Wimbledon Opponents

On Friday in London, the draw for Wimbledon-2026 in the women's singles category took place. Pressball.by suggests familiarizing yourself with the first-round pairs.

World No. 1 Belarusian Aryna Sabalenka will meet Teodora Kostovic from Serbia, who advanced through qualification. She is 18 years old and ranks 184th in the WTA ranking.

In turn, Iryna Shymanovich, who won the qualification, will meet Switzerland's Viktorija Golubic in the first round.

Last year, Sabalenka reached the Wimbledon semi-finals, where she lost to American Amanda Anisimova, and the final of the tennis tournament was memorable for Anisimova's crushing defeat to Iga Świątek with scores of 0:6, 0:6.

As for Grand Slam tournaments, which include the Australian Open, Roland Garros, Wimbledon, and the US Open, Sabalenka won the tournament in Australia twice and in the USA twice. At Wimbledon, she played in the semi-finals three times, but never reached the final.

Currently, Aryna's lead in the world ranking over Elena Rybakina is 947 points. Sabalenka has held the top spot since October 19, 2024.
