Larry appeared at 10 Downing Street (the residence of the British Prime Minister) in January 2011 and was shown on television. Following his presentation at an official briefing on February 16, 2011, Larry took up the post of Chief Mouser to the Cabinet Office of the UK Government. Larry caught his first mouse on Downing Street on April 22.
Larry usually greets visitors to Downing Street with a serious demeanor, often ignores important guests, and scratching him is quite a quest.
His predecessor in this post was the cat Sybil, but she passed away back in 2009.

Larry has outlived six prime ministers: David Cameron, Theresa May, Boris Johnson, Liz Truss, Rishi Sunak, Keir Starmer.
David Cameron's premiership was the longest-lasting — six years and two months; Larry might not even remember Liz Truss — 50 days of premiership.
