Mogilev woman tried to light a cigarette from a gas stove and died of burns two weeks later
Another tragic incident occurred in the Bykhaw district. A man's trousers caught fire, and he soon died.
A 57-year-old woman in her apartment tried to light a cigarette from the flame of a gas stove, but her clothes caught fire.
The woman was hospitalized with severe thermal burns, but doctors could not save the victim — she died two and a half weeks later.
The examination by the State Committee of Forensic Examinations established the presence of thermal flame burns of 2nd, 3rd, and 4th degrees over approximately 48% of the deceased's body and thermo-inhalation trauma, which led to the development of a severe complication — burn disease with systemic inflammation, which became the cause of death.
The same cause of death was found in a 65-year-old resident of the Bykhaw district. The man was helping an elderly neighbor extinguish dry grass when his trousers caught fire.
Due to the rapid spread of the fire, he was unable to extinguish the flames himself.
As a result, the rural resident sustained thermal burns of 2nd, 3rd, and 4th degrees over 31% of his body surface and died in the hospital a week later.
