Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov stated that Moscow wants to understand what happened at the G7 Summit in Évian-les-Bains, France, writes Bild.
The words of French President Emmanuel Macron served as the reason for this. According to him, after talks with partners, Donald Trump concluded that Russia does not want peace in Ukraine, and previous agreements between Trump and Putin were finally buried.
New statements by Trump about Volodymyr Zelenskyy also attracted special attention.
At a meeting with NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte, the US president said that Ukraine is holding up «quite well», called Zelenskyy «brave» and stated that Kyiv has «excellent equipment» and «excellent fighters». However, until recently, Trump publicly sharply criticized the Ukrainian president.
In the US administration, there is also increasing talk about Ukraine's advantage. Deputy Secretary of State Jeremy Levin recently spoke of a «broad consensus» between Trump, Zelenskyy, and European allies, and also said that Ukraine is winning the war «at the moment» and has changed the dynamic on the front.
Lavrov, however, called reports that Washington had given Kyiv permission for tougher strikes on Russia, «wishful thinking».
