Known Belarusian political scientist and journalist Yury Drakakhrust announced the end of his contract with "Radio Svaboda". He reported that today is his last working day as a staff member of the publication.
65-year-old Yury Drakakhrust worked in the Prague office of "Svaboda" since April 2000, but his cooperation with the American corporation began even earlier — in March 1991 as a freelancer in Minsk.
The journalist thanked his colleagues for their cooperation, and also expressed gratitude for the opportunity for self-realization.
"It's a pity to leave. But that's how life unfolds. And it continues. As the classic wrote, 'somehow, one way or another, it will be'," he wrote.
Yury Drakakhrust was the author of numerous popular programs and discussions on "Radio Svaboda", and hosted the analytical program "Prague Accent".
In 2024, he was заочно (in absentia) sentenced in Belarus to 10 years of imprisonment in a fabricated, politically motivated case of "Sviatlana Tsikhanouskaya's analysts".
