Designers propose getting married in wedding sandals — such a collection has been released by Birkenstock

More and more brides are choosing alternatives to traditional heels for their wedding, prioritizing comfort: some get married in ballet flats, others in sneakers or Doc Martens.

The famous German footwear brand Birkenstock, known for its anatomically correct insoles, riding the wave of comfort fashion, has teamed up with New York designer Danielle Frankel Hirsch to release a collection of wedding sandals.

The new collection features classic and widely loved Birkenstock models, but with a wedding twist. Stylists predict a bright future for them – some even believe that Birkenstock is setting the main trend for 2026, and many other brands focused on footwear or specifically on wedding fashion will follow suit.

"Even the most comfortable pumps, duck-toe shoes, or even ballet flats cannot compete with the comfort of Birkenstocks. Let alone high heels," report the first groups of testers.

The sandals are made in milky shades and embroidered with pearls and lace flowers. More elegant fasteners also distinguish them from classic models.

Designers also did not forget about grooms: the collection includes a minimalist black version of the Arizona model for men.

The creators of the wedding capsule note that it was a response to the needs of modern couples who are moving away from traditional wedding ceremonies and breaking stereotypes, wanting their attire to reflect their lifestyle rather than meeting the expectations of tradition lovers.

The collection release is scheduled for February 12th. Prices for the wedding sandals will range from $660 to $950.
