Preliminary cause of death for Republican Senator Lindsey Graham from the American state of South Carolina is aortic dissection due to atherosclerotic cardiovascular disease. This was reported by the politician's press service.
«The death certificate will remain in a 'pending' status until all toxicological and microscopic examinations are completed, after which it will be updated to reflect the cause of death and the appropriate classification of the circumstances of death,» they added.
Graham died on July 11 in Washington. Prior to his sudden death, the politician was on a visit to Ukraine and visited the production facility of the defense company SkyFall, which manufactures drones for various purposes. As part of the trip, Graham also met with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy. Graham represented South Carolina in the U.S. Senate since 2003. He chaired the Senate Budget Committee and also served on the Appropriations, Judiciary, Environment and Public Works committees.
