Famous Car Designer, Creator of BMW X5 and X6 Look, Received Russian Citizenship
Famous Belgian car designer Pierre Leclercq became a citizen of Russia — the corresponding decree was signed by Vladimir Putin.

The reasons for this decision and whether Leclercq is currently connected to the Russian automotive industry are not yet reported.
Leclercq — an iconic figure in global automotive design. His main calling card is his work at BMW (from 2000 to 2013), where he created the exterior design of the popular BMW X5 and X6 crossovers, and later headed the BMW M sports division.
Later, the Belgian changed a number of major companies.
2013—2017: vice president of design at Chinese Great Wall Motors (led the development of the bestseller Haval H6 and the WEY brand).
2017—2018: head of Kia's design division in South Korea.
From 2018 to present: chief designer at French Citroën (latest prominent work — the futuristic concept car Citroën Oli).
