Larisa Belskaya, Representative of the Republic of Belarus to the UN Office and other international organizations in Geneva, was speaking in Geneva during the 61st session of the UN Human Rights Council about how women are respected in Belarus, writes Viasna. At a certain moment, former political prisoner Palina Sharenda-Panasyuk approached her with photographs of other politically imprisoned women.

Let us remind you that 59-year-old Volha Mayorava was sentenced to 21.5 years of imprisonment in the 'Autukhovich case'. She has been imprisoned since January 4, 2021, and risks completely losing her eyesight in prison.
51-year-old Alena Lazarchyk has been behind bars since December 30, 2021; her sentence is 9 and a half years of deprivation of liberty.
Both women are serving their sentences in penal colony No. 24 for repeat offenders in Zarechcha, Rechytsa District.
In February 2022, Larisa Belskaya was appointed by Lukashenka as the Permanent Representative of the Republic of Belarus to the UN Office and other international organizations in Geneva.
