Editor-in-chief of "Euroradio" added to the database of the Ukrainian website "Myrotvorets"
The 34-year-old head of the independent Belarusian media Yauhen Kazartsau has been added to Ukrainian blacklists.
Editor-in-chief of "Euroradio" Yauhen Kazartsau has been added to the database of the Ukrainian center "Myrotvorets". A card with his personal data appeared on the portal, which records signs of crimes against Ukraine's national security.
The journalist is accused of "participation in acts of humanitarian aggression against Ukraine," spreading Russian propaganda, and manipulating socially significant information in the interests of the Kremlin.
The claims against Kazartsau are related to his work from 2015 to 2020 on the Russian state resource "Sputnik".
Kazartsau is accused of repeating the Kremlin's key narratives in his publications at that time. According to "Myrotvorets", he published texts that discredited Belarusian volunteers in the ATO zone.
His articles on "Sputnik" contained complimentary descriptions of Alyaksandr Lukashenka as "the native president" and "father of the nation," denial of political prisoners in Belarus, and falsifications in the 2016 elections.
Kazartsau himself publicly explained his work at "Sputnik" by saying that until 2020 he "was not a particularly conscious guy."
What is the "Myrotvorets" website?
The Ukrainian project "Myrotvorets" was created in 2014 to investigate signs of crimes against Ukraine's national security. In fact, it is an open public database where volunteers enter personal data of people suspected of supporting Russian aggression, collaborating with occupation authorities, and so on.
It is quite easy to get on the "Myrotvorets" list – it is updated by volunteers and is not directly linked to state bodies. Nevertheless, being added to the "Myrotvorets" database sometimes becomes a reason for entry bans to Ukraine, problems with visas to the EU, or other legal or reputational issues.
