Syrsky believes Russians will attack Chernihiv region from Bryansk Oblast. But from Belarus — unlikely
The Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Oleksandr Syrsky, stated in an interview with the Ukrainian TV channel TSN that, according to the assessment of the Ukrainian command, the Russian General Staff has prepared several options for new offensive operations against Ukraine.

According to Syrsky, the most likely scenario is an offensive from the territory of Bryansk Oblast in the direction of Chernihiv Oblast. Syrsky states that the main goal of such an operation is not to capture Kyiv, but to stretch the front line and force Ukraine to redeploy some of its troops from other sectors where the most active hostilities are currently taking place.
He also reported that Russia considered the possibility of conducting an offensive operation from the territory of Belarus. However, in his opinion, after recent events, Belarusian authorities are unlikely to agree to use their territory again as a staging ground for an offensive. At the same time, the Ukrainian command also takes this variant of events into account.
In recent months, Ukraine has been strengthening the defense of its northern border. New fortifications and mine barriers are being built in Polissia. Earlier, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy stated that the need for additional fortification of the Chernihiv and Kyiv directions is related to possible increased pressure from Russia on Alyaksandr Lukashenka to draw Belarus even deeper into the war.
A few days ago, Oleksandr Syrsky announced the creation of new unmanned systems units to cover the northern direction. In turn, the Commander of the National Guard of Ukraine, Oleksandr Pivnenko, noted that a large-scale Russian offensive in this sector is possible only if about 70 thousand military personnel are concentrated near the border. He emphasized that Ukrainian forces are preparing to prevent a repeat of the events of early 2022, when Belarusian territory was used for an offensive on Kyiv.
