The Institute of Fruit Growing offered everyone interested to pick cherries in the garden. Almost the same price as in the market — but if it's in your mouth, it's free!

12 rubles per kilogram for self-picking, while at Komarovka market it's from 10 rubles.

The Institute of Fruit Growing is ready to allow everyone interested to self-pick cherries in its garden (located near the village of Samokhvalovichi in the Minsk region). Two dates have been allocated for this — July 1 and 7, exclusively from 9:00 to 15:00.

To pick, you need to bring your own container, and then pay 12 rubles for each kilogram collected.

The offer sparked an active discussion on social networks — people debated whether it was adequate to pay 12 rubles per kilogram for self-picking, or if it was simpler to buy those cherries at Komarovka market for 10 rubles.

A "Nasha Niva" journalist called the Institute of Fruit Growing as a Belarusian who wanted to participate in the picking. When asked why the cost of self-picking berries was so high, an important nuance was explained:

ultimately, you only have to pay for the cherries that are in your container. At the same time, no one forbids eating berries during the picking process.

It was also explained why one cannot come for picking on a weekend or on a weekday evening after work. The reason is that access to the garden is only permitted during the working hours of its employees. This is because everything there is primarily grown for scientific purposes — but since there are too many berries, they are willing to allow everyone interested to pick them.

Today was the first day of picking. Despite the outrage on social networks, many people were willing to self-pick cherries. However, people were unhappy that picking cherries took 50 minutes, but paying for them took more than an hour. Employees even had to promptly bring additional scales.
