In the Gomel district, near the village of Stukachouka, construction of a new large cemetery — "Cemetery No. 2, crematorium, and columbarium" — will begin in mid-October. This is evidenced by a tender announcement published by the Gomel Capital Construction Department, writes "Flagstock".

At this stage, the first phase of construction and the creation of the first launch complex are underway. In total, the project is designed for four phases.
In 2024, the Gomel District Executive Committee conducted a public discussion of the project, but it was temporarily suspended due to comments from one person — Valeryia Yafremava, who demanded that the environmental impact assessment report be refined. After refinement, the report was approved, and the public discussion resumed.
It is planned to clear a forest on a 150-hectare plot, as the territory is located within a forest massif and borders existing cemeteries. After the project's implementation, Stukachouka cemetery will become the largest in Belarus, surpassing the size of the Northern Cemetery in Minsk.

For the first three phases of construction, an area of 127 hectares has been allocated for traditional burials, which will accommodate approximately 182,000 graves.
The first phase is planned to be completed by mid-March 2026, with 2.685 million rubles (about 911,000 dollars) allocated from the budget for this. The first launch complex includes 650 double burials on 1.76 hectares.
The project also provides for the construction of a crematorium and columbariums for burying urns with ashes. Currently, there is only one crematorium and columbariums in Minsk, so residents of Gomel and other regions are forced to transport the deceased to the capital.
The construction of the crematorium and columbarium complex in Stukachouka is only planned for the fourth phase of the project, and its completion is possible no earlier than 2028 — provided funding is available.
