A service for finding lost pets launched in Belarus

A new service for finding lost pets has been launched in Belarus – Picard , a smart tag with a QR code that doesn't require charging and allows quick contact with the pet owner. Minsk-News writes about how it works.

The author of the idea is Jan Hulevich. The idea is that if an animal gets lost, any passerby can scan the QR code on the tag with a regular smartphone camera – without installing any applications. After that, a page opens with information about the animal and the owner's contacts. The system also allows automatic sending of the discovery's geolocation to the owner.

Unlike GPS trackers, the device does not require charging and does not lose functionality over time. The tag is made of durable polymer, resistant to moisture, dirt, and mechanical damage. Its size is about three centimeters, and the fastening is designed for active animals.

The cost of one smart tag is 25 rubles. This amount includes not only manufacturing but also technical maintenance of the service: server operation, data protection, payment systems, and commissions.

The service is currently being tested in Minsk, and in the future, it is planned to expand it throughout the country. In the long term, the platform could integrate not only the search for lost animals but also other digital services for pet owners.
