Why do so many footballers wear pink boots at the World Cup?

Many fans have noticed one interesting detail of the current World Cup: pink boots have literally flooded the tournament. Practically in every match, players in bright footwear can be seen on the field.

The reason is that the largest equipment manufacturers — Nike, Adidas, and Puma — bet on pink this summer. Companies traditionally use the World Cup as the main showcase for new models, and most footballers are obliged to wear boots from brands with whom they have contracts, writes "Tribuna".

Nike explains the choice simply. According to company representative Adinga Nimako, research has shown that athletes feel more confident in bright footwear.

"We constantly hear from athletes, especially when it comes to important moments, that bright colors give them confidence, so that became our starting point. Pink is one of those colors."

However, there are exceptions. For example, Lionel Messi scored his historic first World Cup hat-trick in white and blue Adidas El Ultimo Tango boots.

And for Cristiano Ronaldo, Nike created special entirely gold boots, but the Portuguese did not wear them in his first match at this World Cup.
