Russia's Foreign Ministry threatened a response to Baltic states over them allegedly opening airspace for Ukrainian drones
Official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry Maria Zakharova issued a threat against the Baltic states, accusing them of aiding Ukrainian aerial attacks. Against the backdrop of strikes on Russian ports, Moscow places responsibility for drone flights on Riga, Vilnius, and Tallinn.
Zakharova threatened a response to the Baltic countries, which, according to her, opened their airspace for Ukrainian drones. «These countries have been given an appropriate warning. If these regimes, these countries, have enough sense, they will listen. If not, they will face a response,» — Interfax news agency quotes Zakharova's words.
The conflict escalated after a series of attacks on Russian naval ports, during which several drones fell on the territory of the Baltic states.
The Ukrainian side promptly reacted to the incidents, offering apologies. According to Ukrainian intelligence, Russia might have deliberately directed drones towards the Baltic states using electronic warfare means, to use these facts for its own propaganda and pressure on its neighbors.
The Latvian Foreign Ministry sent an official note of protest to Moscow. Latvian diplomats emphasized that the Russian accusations have no evidence. In the note, Moscow's claims were called «absolutely false», and attempts to accuse Latvia of allowing its territory to be used for strikes on Russia — deliberate disinformation.
