In England, a three-year-old boy sustained serious injuries after ending up in a crocodile enclosure at a zoo. The incident occurred on June 18 at Johnsons of Old Hurst zoo near Huntingdon in Cambridgeshire, where the child had gone with his family, the BBC reports .

According to preliminary information, at least one animal attacked the boy. Medics managed to stabilize the victim's condition, after which he was taken to the hospital.
How the child ended up in the enclosure is still unknown. The first to help was zoo employee Tracey, who was joined by her husband and son. Their actions helped rescue the boy before the emergency services arrived.
According to local media reports, police arrested a 30-year-old man on suspicion of attempted murder. According to one version, he may have thrown the child to the crocodiles. However, due to the specifics of his health condition, the man was deemed unfit for interrogation and released on bail until September.
The crocodiles were kept in a specially equipped facility, and visitors observed them from elevated viewing platforms protected by metal fences. No security breaches in this enclosure had been detected previously.
Law enforcement officers are currently reviewing surveillance camera footage and clarifying all circumstances of the incident, including how long the child was in the enclosure. It is reported that the crocodiles were not killed or removed after the incident.
For the duration of the investigation, the pavilion housing the crocodile enclosure is closed to visitors.
