The death toll from a powerful earthquake in Venezuela has reached 589 people, with another approximately 2,900 injured. This was reported by the country's leader, Delcy Rodríguez.

According to Rodríguez, the state of La Guaira was the most affected, where the military has brought the situation under control. Rescue services continue to search for those who may be trapped under the rubble, and also provide residents with food and drinking water.
Earlier, the Ministry of Health of Venezuela reported 235 fatalities, but after clarifications, this number significantly increased. According to official data, more than 50,000 people are considered missing.
The earthquake occurred on June 24. Two powerful tremors with magnitudes of 7.2 and 7.5 were recorded in the country, their epicenters located approximately ten kilometers apart in Yaracuy state.
