This occurred five days after two powerful earthquakes of magnitudes 7.2 and 7.5, which caused widespread destruction in the north of the country and, according to official data, claimed the lives of at least 1450 people.
The epicenter of the new earthquake was located approximately 10 kilometers east of La Guaira, with its focus at a depth of 2.9 kilometers. After the main tremors, seismologists registered more than 400 aftershocks.
In several areas of the country, especially in Caracas, natural gas supply remains partially cut off. Meanwhile, Venezuelan and international rescue services continue search and rescue operations in the most affected areas.
Acting President of Venezuela Delcy Rodríguez announced the launch of an aid program for people who lost their homes as a result of the natural disaster.
