It became known what and why is being demolished in Minsk's Osmolovka
In early June, residents of the authentic Osmolovka microdistrict in Minsk became concerned. As the Onliner publication noted, construction equipment appeared on the green area near kindergarten No. 116, within the streets of Chycheryna, Kisialiova, Bahdanovicha, and Kamunistychnaya. Immediately, rumors circulated that something would be demolished and something built in the quarter. The publication Office Life learned the details from the administration of the Central District of the city.

From the very beginning, it was assumed that the old bomb shelter and, possibly, the kindergarten on Chycheryna street would be demolished.
The administration of the Central District confirmed that the underground protective structure between houses No. 14A, 16 and 18 on Bahdanovicha street and kindergarten No. 116 will indeed be demolished. It had not been in use for many years.
This decision was made to avoid emergency situations and situations dangerous to the life and health of citizens. Public utility services will complete the demolition of the bomb shelter by the end of June. The territory itself will then be landscaped. No objects are planned to be built here.
In accordance with the general plan of Minsk, the territory of residential quarters within the streets of Kamunistychnaya — Kuybysheva — Kisialiova — Bahdanovicha is classified as a public zone of the city's core.
"The specified territory is not provided with an approved urban planning project for detailed planning, while the demolition of the microdistrict's residential buildings, as well as the kindergarten on Chycheryna street, 11, is not planned," the official response from the district administration states.
They emphasized that new construction is prohibited in Osmolovka, as this residential area has been a protected historical and cultural zone since 2019.
