Noctilucent clouds observed in the night sky over Belarus PHOTOS

On the night of July 1, residents of Belarus could observe noctilucent clouds in the sky – a rather rare atmospheric phenomenon. They are visible only during the dark hours, when stars are already appearing in the sky, writes BelTA.

In Belarus and neighboring countries, the season for observing noctilucent clouds usually begins in late May, they are most frequently encountered in July, and disappear in early August.

These clouds form at an altitude of about 80 kilometers above the Earth's surface, which is approximately ten times higher than ordinary clouds.

Their formation occurs due to meteoric dust, on the particles of which moisture condenses, and tiny ice crystals are formed.
