A 31-year-old American climber miraculously survived after falling about 450 meters during an ascent of Mount Shasta in Lassen Volcanic National Park, reports desertsun.com.

The woman was climbing the popular Avalanche Gulch route with two friends, who were also novice climbers.
After the tragic incident, local rescuers were immediately notified. They arrived at the scene by helicopter and found the woman conscious. Despite the great height of the fall, she only suffered a fractured ankle. The injured person was taken to the hospital for medical assistance.
Local authorities reminded that the weather on Mount Shasta can change rapidly. Therefore, before ascending, it is necessary to have appropriate climbing equipment and to go on the hike with experienced partners.
