In Russia, a Belarusian truck driver crashed into a paddy wagon so hard that an arrested person inside lost consciousness
The injured party will receive $2000 in compensation for facial injuries.

In September 2023, an unusual accident occurred on the highway near Izhevsk, Russia. A truck driven by Belarusian citizen Uladzimir Fedaseyeu swerved into the oncoming lane, where a paddy wagon was traveling at that moment.
An arrested person, Siarhei Shutau, was being transported in the back of the paddy wagon. He was being moved from the temporary detention facility in Izhevsk to pre-trial detention center No. 2 in Glazov. Naturally, Shutau was not belted in — there are simply no seat belts in paddy wagons. From the impact, he lost consciousness, suffered a traumatic brain injury, fractures of the nasal bones, a lacerated finger, and other injuries.
The Belarusian long-haul truck driver was fined approximately $30 for violating traffic rules, but the arrested person Shutau decided to seek compensation for himself.
It didn't matter to him who would pay — the Russian police, the Investigative Committee, the transport company, or the driver Fedaseyeu himself. In total, he asked for about $13,000 in moral compensation for facial scars, which require surgery to remove.
In February 2026, the Oktyabrsky District Court of Izhevsk ruled that Shutau would receive compensation, but only $2000. The money will be collected from the owner of the truck and from the police as the owner of the paddy wagon.
