In Belarus, a batch of 'Econom' sunflower halva is being removed from sale after an excess of the permissible norm of cadmium was found in it — a heavy metal that can accumulate in the body and be dangerous to health, writes "Minskaya Prauda".

The violation was discovered by specialists of the state sanitary supervision during an inspection in Yelsk district of Gomel region.
The product in question is sunflower halva weighing 350 grams, manufactured on February 28, 2026. Its shelf life expires on October 28, 2026.
The product manufacturer is the Russian LLC "Azov Confectionery Factory" from Mytishchi, near Moscow, and it is supplied to Belarus by LLC "Zdravy Produkt".
The sanitary service reports that this batch does not meet safety requirements, and therefore it is being removed from sale.
