Russian war correspondents called Konstantinovka "the second Kupyansk", and Ukrainian servicemen held a flash mob in the city
This is a comparison with another city, about the capture of which Putin was reported three times, until Volodymyr Zelenskyy personally visited it.

"Konstantinovka = Kupyansk," such a concise message was published by Russian Z-blogger Romanov.

The head of the General Staff of the Russian forces, General Valery Gerasimov, reported to Vladimir Putin about the capture of Konstantinovka on July 3, 2026.
Ukrainian servicemen from various brigades reacted to Putin's and Gerasimov's statement about the capture of Konstantinovka with a flash mob — they recorded videos from different districts of the city, which continues to defend itself from "Russofascists".
Konstantinovka is a city in the north of Donbas. Before the war, at the beginning of 2022, 67,000 people lived there, and at the peak of its prosperity, in the late 1970s — 112,000. Konstantinovka, along with other settlements, forms the Kramatorsk agglomeration, in which at the beginning of the 21st century, 650,000 people lived, among whom about 70% were Ukrainians and only 25% were Russians.
Volodymyr Zelenskyy on July 4 offered Putin to meet in Konstantinovka, "since it is now under Russia's control".
Volodymyr Zelenskyy wrote in his Telegram channel: "Putin decided to lie to the world and the American president about the situation at the front: he claims about the alleged capture of Konstantinovka in Donbas by Russians. Of course, this is not true — this is another Russian lie to launch at least some news...".
"If Konstantinovka was indeed under Russia's control, then, probably, Putin would have no problems meeting me there and finding diplomatic solutions to finally stop the war. But he still does not cross the front line: the truth is very different from Putin's words," the President of Ukraine noted.
The Kremlin reacted to Volodymyr Zelenskyy's offer to meet in Konstantinovka. Putin's press secretary Dmitry Peskov stated that the Russian leader is ready for a meeting, but exclusively in Moscow, not in the frontline zone.
Vladimir Putin's statement about the capture of Konstantinovka preceded his lengthy phone conversation with US President Donald Trump.
