BSMU predicts competition for targeted admission places

Competition among those applying for targeted admission places is preliminarily expected on every faculty of the Belarusian State Medical University. This was announced to journalists by BSMU Rector Sergei Rubnikovich, reports BELTA.

According to him, this year, as before, a significant number of motivated young men and women are applying to the university. Nearly 1,400 applications have been submitted for 782 targeted places. Meanwhile, these are the highest controlled admission figures for targeted training across all universities in the country.

"A rather good competition is expected. It's pleasing that it's evenly distributed across all our faculties. For the Medical, Pediatric, Medico-Prophylactic, Dental, and Pharmaceutical Faculties, the preliminary competition will be 1.8-1.9 people per place," said Sergei Rubnikovich.

More than 260 applicants who applied for targeted places have diplomas and certificates with honors. This applies to every third applicant who graduated from a college, and every fifth applicant from school and gymnasium. For most applicants, the average certificate score is 8-10.

The Rector noted that throughout the year, the university conducted systematic career guidance work. "We had an online preparation course for admission to targeted training, organized by the university for everyone interested. More than 1,300 applicants enrolled in it. Young men and women prepared throughout the year to enter our university specifically for 'biology' and 'chemistry' subjects. I hope this also helped the applicants," added Sergei Rubnikovich.

At BSMU, internal exams for admission to targeted training are being held from July 4 to July 10, inclusive. The enrollment results will be summarized on July 11, and already on July 12, presumably, an open online enrollment of those admitted to the university will take place.

Speaking about the demand for targeted admissions among young people, Sergei Rubnikovich noted that 60% of the total number of state-funded places are allocated for targeted admissions. "This year, the admission rules have been slightly adjusted: the Ministry of Health, not the main health departments of regional executive committees, acts as the customer," the rector reminded, noting that after graduation, students will be assigned to their first jobs based on academic performance, their contribution to the scientific field, and public life.

The next stage of the admission campaign at BSMU, following the enrollment of applicants for targeted training, will begin on July 12 — the submission of documents for state-funded training based on the results of CT (Centralized Testing) and CE (Centralized Exams). The rector reminded that applicants can use the 'Electronic Queue' service to submit documents to the admissions committee. "Perhaps someone will not pass for targeted training, but has good results in CT and CE. Such an applicant will be able to submit documents for state-funded training," noted Sergei Rubnikovich.
