Hundreds of snakes escaped from breeding farms in China due to massive floods
In southern China, hundreds of snakes escaped from special breeding farms due to massive floods caused by a typhoon. Both non-venomous and venomous species ended up at large, including cobras, kraits, and green pit vipers, reports The Guardian.

A snake farm in Hezhou city was particularly affected. According to local residents, many reptiles spread throughout the vicinity. One victim reported being bitten by a cobra while cleaning up debris in his home.
Local medics reported that they had already provided assistance to several people who suffered from snake bites.
The floods led to the breach of two dams in Guangxi, as a result of which several settlements were cut off by water. According to the latest data, at least six people died, over 50,000 were evacuated, and several more are considered missing.
Authorities have strengthened security measures: increased antivenom supplies, organized additional medical stations, and distributed recommendations on how to avoid snake bites and what to do in case of an attack. Chinese leader Xi Jinping called for all possible resources to be mobilized to eliminate the consequences of the disaster and rescue people.
