Demarche before the Champions League match: some players of the Romanian club refused to shake hands with ML Vitebsk footballers
ML Vitebsk's start in the Champions League qualification was remembered not only for a crushing defeat 1:4 against Romanian "Universitatea", but also for a political demarche before the starting whistle.

As noted by "Tribuna", several players of the Romanian team immediately refused to participate in the traditional pre-match greeting and did not clap hands with the Belarusian club's footballers.
Georgian legionnaire Anzor Mekhvabishvili and Portuguese Samuel Teles were caught by camera lenses. Earlier, Ukrainian defender of "Universitatea" Oleksandr Romanchuk publicly declared his principled intention not to greet Belarusians.
As for the game itself, which took place in Hungary due to sanctions, the intrigue in it disappeared already in the first half: the Romanians scored three goals (two from penalties). Towards the end of the match, Valeriy Gromyko scored one goal with a long-range shot, but in added time, Vitebsk conceded a fourth goal.
The return leg will take place on July 15 in Romania.
