Another exotic novelty has arrived in Minsk stores, this time from China — "mini" corn. Both common yellow and black varieties are available, reports Tochka.by.

This corn is sold in various packages. You can also buy a "mix" — it contains two types at once. For example, the yellow variety will cost 16.99 rubles for a 480-gram package (35.4 rubles per 1 kg). The dark variety, however, is sold in smaller packaging — 200 g will cost you 4.99 rubles (24.95 rubles per 1 kg).

Moreover, the corn is already boiled.
A Treasure Trove of Antioxidants
Mini corn has become popular due to its nutritional properties and attractive appearance.

The black variety stands out with its deep dark color, which is due to a high content of anthocyanins — natural antioxidants. It is rich in vitamins, minerals, and fiber. The taste of this corn is usually a bit more earthy, rich, and less sweet than the yellow variety. Some compare it to a mild nutty flavor.

The yellow variety is a more common type, known for its sweet taste and bright color. It also contains carotenoids, such as beta-carotene.
How to Best Cook
If you bought a jar or package of fresh mini-corn, here are a few options:
- Stir-fry. Sauté on high heat with soy sauce, ginger, garlic, and sesame oil for 3-4 minutes. It should remain crispy;
- Grill. Lightly brush with oil and grill on a grill pan until striped — an ideal side dish for meat;
- Salads: corn pairs perfectly with seafood, fresh cucumbers, peppers, and cilantro.
An important nuance: if you see black corn in the store, make sure it is a natural variety and not a pickled product with added dyes.
