Trump unveiled his new luxurious "Air Force One" — a plane that could cost a billion dollars, Bild writes.
The Boeing 747-8, gifted to him by Qatar, was completely refitted and modernized by order of the US Department of Defense.
Air Force One stands out for "a level of luxury no one has ever seen before," Trump said in his speech at Joint Base Andrews near Washington. The plane is considered "the most luxurious aircraft in the world," he continued, and "when you see it, you won't believe it — the quality of the wood, the quality of the materials, the quality of the engines!" The new aircraft flies "further and faster than any previous Air Force One," the US president said.
The aircraft has been upgraded in terms of security, communications, and logistics. There are currently no interior images available. It is only known that when the Qatari ruling family acquired this luxury aircraft for their private fleet over ten years ago, it was lavishly decorated. American officials stated that the new interior would be noticeably similar to the previous luxurious design.
The cost of the Boeing 747-8 itself, when transferred by Qatar, was estimated at approximately 400 million dollars. After modernization, according to Newsweek, People, and aviation experts, it could reach one billion dollars.
Trump announced that the new aircraft would likely participate in an airshow celebrating the 250th anniversary of US independence on July 4th. He himself will officially use it for the first time in early July, to fly to the NATO summit in Ankara.
