The Prime Minister of Italy called Trump's statements "completely fabricated", and the country's foreign minister canceled his visit to Washington.

"She begged me to take a photo with her! She wanted to take a photo with me so badly. I wouldn't even have agreed, but I felt sorry for her! She's probably happy I spoke to her! I wasn't obligated to speak to her," Trump said.
Meloni called Trump's statements "completely fabricated" and emphasized that "Italy and I never beg".
"Donald Trump's statements are completely fabricated. I am, frankly, shocked. I don't understand why the US president behaves this way with his allies. After all, this is not the first time this has happened. I can only say — it's a pity that he doesn't show the same determination towards enemies of the West, enemies of the US, leaders to whom he, on the contrary, turns out to be much more amenable. But he must remember one thing: Italy and I never beg," the Italian Prime Minister said.
It later became known that Italian Foreign Minister Antonio Tajani canceled his visit to the US in light of Trump's statement.
"President Trump's serious and insulting remarks towards Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni insult all of Italy. For this reason, I decided to cancel my visit to the United States, scheduled for June 21 and 22," Antonio Tajani wrote on social network X.
