Sviatlana Tsikhanouskaya stated that Belarusian democratic forces take seriously all signals coming from the Ukrainian side regarding Belarus's involvement in the war and security in the region.
"Ukraine has every reason to be vigilant: it was from Belarusian territory in 2022 that the Russian invasion began, and today Lukashenka's regime continues to support Russian aggression," she noted.
According to her, this week in Kyiv, the Mission of Belarusian Democratic Forces in Ukraine held a round table, where experts and representatives of BELPOL presented information about the militarization of Belarus and Russia's plans for further involvement of our country in the war. These threats cannot be ignored or underestimated – they must be taken with full seriousness.
"Ukraine speaks to Lukashenka in the language of force, because that is what he understands best. Lukashenka must realize: all responsibility for possible consequences for the country will lie with him," she noted.
Tsikhanouskaya reminded that Lukashenka's regime remains an accomplice to the aggression. It provides territory and infrastructure, helping Russia strike Ukrainian cities, and supplies Russia with weapons, fuel, and equipment for the Russian war machine.
"If Lukashenka truly wants peace, he must prove it not with words, but with concrete actions: stop all support for aggression," she said.
She addressed Belarusians:
"I know that Belarusians are against the war. Therefore, I appeal to each of you: take care of yourselves and do not allow yourselves to be drawn into someone else's war. Do not succumb to propaganda, do not believe in imposed fears and hostility. Do not become a tool in someone else's imperial ambitions – for this is not our choice.
Our common task is to prevent Belarus from being definitively drawn into the war. This corresponds first and foremost to the national interests of our country."
