In Belarus, a global hit still can't be shown — money had to be refunded for tickets
The comedy «Scary Movie 6» (Scary Movie 6) was released in early June, and the film with Russian voiceover has already been shown in Russia and Kazakhstan. But Belarusians might not get to see this hit.

«Scary Movie 6» is another installment of the major film franchise that began back in 2000. Each of these films is a parody of famous horrors and simultaneously a satire on scandals, events, and simply memes of recent years.
It's unclear what about this upset the Belarusian authorities, but the sixth installment of the series still cannot be released in our cinemas.
The world premiere of «Scary Movie 6» took place on June 5, 2026, and on June 18, the film was released in Russia. The film not only broke even, it showed box office earnings at the level of a blockbuster hit — 200 million dollars against 30 million dollars spent on filming. Critics' reviews, however, were negative, but with such box office takings, it's unlikely to upset the producers.
In Belarus, the film was planned to be shown last week — for example, the Mooon cinema chain planned the premiere for June 20. However, on June 19, the cinemas wrote on social media that the premiere was being postponed «due to reasons beyond Mooon's control». Viewers who had already purchased tickets were offered a refund.
The situation is no better in other cinemas. On ticket sales websites, there are formal announcements for June 22 screenings, but you won't be able to buy tickets for them — the website will say something like «no events found for your query» or «sales for this event have ended». Sometimes you can buy tickets for other days, but it's unknown whether you might have to return those as well.
Cinemas explain that they are awaiting a response from the Ministry of Culture, because the film has not yet been added to the register of permitted films.
