Belarusian Woman with a Protocol Under 23.34 Wants to Receive Payments for Her Father's Death in the "SMO". But Don't Rush to Judge

30-year-old Margarita Turko maintains melancholic social media accounts, in which she posts her cats, parrots, sketches from the garden and kitchen, and occasionally — her young son. However, yesterday she published a story unusual for her: she admitted on Threads that her father "died in the SMO," and she herself wants to receive "funeral" money. The post went viral, and Ukrainians immediately swarmed with understandable emotions: "He didn't die, he croaked," "When are you next?" "I wish your family the quickest reunion!" But there are nuances to the story.

Margarita's father, who died in Putin's war, is named Yauhen Kalesnik. That he is indeed deceased, we only know from his daughter's message; verifying this information otherwise is currently impossible — Yauhen left behind only a set of VKontakte pages, none of which have been online for a long time.

Yauhen, according to Belpol's information, was born in Orsha and was registered in the village of Kanashkova in the Lyozna district. On social media, he indicated St. Petersburg as his place of residence. He will also be buried in Russia.

Responding to accusations about her father, Margarita directly wrote to internet commentators: "My father died, and I only care about the payments. I never saw him my whole life; he didn't participate in my life. Then he fled from alimony to the Russian Federation and, it seems, got married there. And then he went to the 'SMO.' What does that have to do with me? I kind of don't give a damn."

"He simply had no purpose in life. He drifted like shit in an ice-hole. He lived in Russia and perhaps tried to find some meaning for himself that way. Self-destructive behavior. Perhaps something was wrong with his psyche," Margarita wrote about her biological father.

According to Belpol's databases, the girl indeed has reason to resent him: her father was sued five times in Belarus for non-payment of alimony for his daughter.

Thus, the "funeral payments" after death are the only, last way for the Belarusian mercenary to finally settle accounts with his daughter. However, if Yauhen Kalesnik was married a second time in Russia, Margarita will have to fight for the payments with her biological father's second family.

By the way, although the girl herself does not consider her father's death a tragedy and emphasizes only financial interest, this is already the second close relative she has lost in a short time. According to her own words, her husband died in an accident two and a half years ago. At that time, their child was six months old.

Margarita herself received a protocol under the infamous article 23.34 in 2020.
