35-year-old Belarusian truck driver suddenly died in China. He was the husband of Belarus' most decorated judoka
A few years ago, Maryna Slutskaya stopped coaching the national team to spend more time with her husband, Aliaksei Kuzmich.

A tragedy occurred in China, where Aliaksei Kuzmich was working — the man suffered a heart attack during loading.
Kuzmich was only 35 years old; he loved riding motorcycles and was a fishing enthusiast.
In October 2022, the man met his love — Maryna Slutskaya, the most decorated Belarusian judoka in history. She is an 8-time champion of Belarus, European champion, winner of the II European Games, and participant in the 2020 Summer Olympic Games in Tokyo.

In 2021, Maryna ended her sports career and became a coach for the national team. But in 2023, she decided to leave that position too, to dedicate more time to her husband.
Maryna explained her decision in an interview: "My husband is a truck driver, he goes on fairly long trips: to Kazakhstan, China, Europe... It happened that Lyosha was away for two and a half months; the last time he planned a three-week trip, but returned after a month and a half. It was good when our schedules coincided: my husband was traveling, and I was at meetings or competitions. However, it often happened differently: he returns, and I leave the next day. Such a mismatch caused stress, and something clearly needed to be done about it."
Therefore, they decided together that Aliaksei would go on trips and earn money, while Maryna would take care of the home and coach children at the judo club, where she was one of the leaders.

Maryna emphasized: an Olympic medal (which she did not receive) did not mean as much to her as the opportunity to have a family: "I am a strong woman who will enter a burning house and stop a horse, but I really wanted to be met at home by a loved one, to feel his support and strong shoulder. And I met him. You won't believe it: on a dating site. A year later we got married."
In 2024, to better understand her beloved, Maryna even went with him on another trip — and spent a month together with her husband in the truck cabin.
"On the road, I fed my husband with a spoon, helped him in the trailer, waited for him on the loading ramp, was a little capricious, offended, but with each passing day, I loved him more and more... Yes, we quarreled a couple of times, were offended for a while, emotionally reconciled, shared memories and emotions, desires and dreams, drank coffee at a gas station, met sunrises and sunsets together," Maryna later wrote on Instagram.
She said that after that trip, she became even prouder of her husband and valued him more.

Last year, the couple had a son, whom they named Makar.
