In Polotsk, the bridge over the Polota river was opened after reconstruction
On July 3, traffic was opened on the renovated bridge on Kastrychnitskaya Street in Polotsk. In order for officials to solemnly cut the red ribbon exactly on Independence Day, builders had to rush the deadlines and deliver the object half a year ahead of the projected schedule.

Work has been underway since the end of 2024, and traffic was completely blocked on January 8, 2025. "Mostobud" acted as the general contractor together with the Vitebsk branch of MBU No. 5.
Initially, it was planned that the repair would last two years (until January 2027), but the builders managed to put the object into operation half a year earlier.
According to Alexander Rogozhnik, Chairman of the Vitebsk Regional Executive Committee, 28 million rubles were allocated from the investment program of the Vitebsk region for the reconstruction.

The previous bridge structure was built in 1962 and no longer met modern transport loads. During the reconstruction, the old reinforced concrete support beams were completely replaced with new ones. The length of the structure remained the same at 112 meters, while the width of the object doubled to 27 meters. The carriageway was expanded from two to four lanes (two in each direction), with a dividing safety island between them.

New asphalt concrete pavement was laid on the bridge, galvanized fences and decorative lighting with the city's coat of arms were installed. Sidewalks 2.25 meters wide are provided for pedestrians, and a bicycle path is equipped on one side. Elements of a barrier-free environment were also implemented: lowered curbs and tactile tiles for people with visual impairments. In addition to updating the bridge itself, builders replaced engineering communications, storm sewers with treatment facilities, updated approaches to the structure, and changed the traffic light operating scheme.
The opening ceremony was attended by Alexander Rogozhnik, Chairman of the Vitebsk Regional Executive Committee, Dmitry Demidov, Chairman of the Vitebsk Regional Council of Deputies, and Vasily Shilov, Chairman of the Polotsk District Executive Committee. After the consecration of the object and the cutting of the red ribbon, the first to cross the bridge were students of the cycling department of Polotsk SDYUSHAR No. 2, local motorcyclists, and new vehicles.
The commissioning of the bridge will help relieve the city center from traffic jams.
