The unofficial Telegram client named Telega has disappeared from the App Store application store. The application was actively promoted as an alternative to the original during the blocking of Pavel Durov's messenger.
The official reason for its removal has not yet been announced. Digital security experts have long warned about the dangers of this project.
The main claim is that Telega was intercepting user traffic. This means that the service owners had the technical ability to see all user activity, including freely reading private correspondence.
In addition to privacy issues, investigative journalists discovered close ties of the developers with the Russian holding company VK.
This gave reason to believe that the messenger was created not to bypass censorship, but for the centralized collection of data about internet users.
