In "Medininkai", Lithuanian firefighters, at the request of customs officers, cut open a smuggler's car
During the dismantling of the car, hidden compartments with contraband were discovered.
At the "Medininkai" border checkpoint, at the request of customs officers, firefighters cut open a smuggler's car, writes LRT.
The Customs Department reported on Friday that in early March, a Toyota Corolla Verso, driven by a Belarusian citizen entering Lithuania, aroused suspicions among officers. The car was therefore inspected using an X-ray system. As a result, carefully equipped hidden compartments with cigarettes were found in the front part of the vehicle.
During a detailed manual inspection, it became clear that the cigarettes were hidden very thoroughly: the secret compartments were so deep that they could not be reached by ordinary means.
Given the complexity of the situation, customs officers contacted employees of the Fire Protection and Rescue Department, who began dismantling the car using special equipment.
During the dismantling of the car, hidden compartments with contraband were opened. A total of 850 packs of cigarettes worth 4.4 thousand euros were found. The car itself, valued at 1.8 thousand euros, was also seized. An administrative offense report was drawn up against the driver.
