«While for office workers, who spend most of their working time at a computer, the optimal temperature is considered to be between +23 and +25°C, for people engaged in physical labor, these indicators will be different. This is due to the fact that during active work, the body produces more heat, so working conditions must provide the opportunity to avoid overheating. At the same time, there are productions where it is objectively impossible to ensure the necessary temperature regime due to the specifics of the technological process. In such cases, additional measures for worker protection become especially important,» the press service explained.
It is necessary to ensure air conditioning or air showering of workplaces. Workers must also be provided with drinking water.
Additionally, employees must be provided with rooms or specially equipped places for rest.
The provision of personal protective equipment is also of great importance. For example, when choosing workwear, it is recommended to use breathable and hygroscopic materials that allow maintaining a comfortable microclimate for the body.
Another measure for worker protection is the establishment of additional regulated breaks for rest. Their duration, provision procedure, and list of relevant works must be stipulated in the Internal Labor Regulations or a collective agreement. Moreover, such breaks are provided in addition to the break for rest and meals, not instead of it, and are included in working hours.
Special attention should be paid to workers who work outdoors. In addition to organizing a drinking regime, providing special breaks, and rest areas, the employer can adjust the work schedule taking into account weather conditions.
During intense heat (above +30°C), the working day schedule may be altered in some organizations.
The FPU reminded that facts of violations of labor protection requirements or inadequate working conditions can be reported via the single free number 8 801 100 1111. Specialists of the FPU inter-industry monitoring center work daily from 08:00 to 20:00.
