Court Refused to Return Sobchak 1.4mln Euros

Russian celebrity and opposition activist tries to return cash seized in May.

As it was reported, Moscow court refused to return the cash money seized form Xenia Sobchak’s apartments during the search in May, 2012, says gazeta.ru Police confiscated around 1mln Euros, $480,000 and 480,000 Russian rubles in total, Lenta.ru informs.

The decision was motivated by the need to subjoin the money to other documentation.

Previously, the court denied to return money as the sum was considered to be aimed at funding opposition protests.

The flat of Xenia Sobchak was searched after protest action in Bolotnaya Square on May 6. Ms. Sobchak did not personally attend the opposition rally, but Russian law enforcement agencies were curious about her post on LiveJournal on the unrest.
