Iran began charging vessels for passage through the Strait of Hormuz
Despite Iran's de facto blockade of the Strait of Hormuz, some vessels still pass through it. According to data from Bloomberg, Iran has started charging up to $2 million per trip from some of them. However, such a fee does not have an officially established form: it is applied selectively, and the payment methods and currency are not disclosed.

Iranian authorities are also considering the possibility of introducing an official fee for using the strait and are even discussing the inclusion of this mechanism in future international agreements after the conflict ends. However, other Persian Gulf countries oppose this, as it makes them even more dependent on Iran.
Meanwhile, Iranian tankers continue to export their oil.
The Strait of Hormuz is of key importance for the global economy: about 20% of oil and liquefied gas supplies pass through it, as well as fertilizers, metals, and other goods.
