A hundred-year-old printing house named after Francysk Skaryna liquidated in Polotsk
On the last day of 2025, a printing house in Polotsk, named in honor of a famous countryman — Polotsk Communal Unitary Printing Enterprise "Heritage of Francysk Skaryna" — was liquidated. Documents for the liquidation of the printing house were filed on March 10, 2025, writes the Belarusian Association of Journalists.

Now, on the website of the consulting enterprise "Vitebsk Regional Marketing Center," all the property of "Heritage of Francysk Skaryna" is being sold, including equipment, furniture, and interior items.
The printing house produced forms, calendars, posters, advertising brochures, and for more than ten years was known for producing labels and packaging for the food industry.
In December 2018, the printing house celebrated its 100th anniversary, and at that time, Belarusian state media called it an "exemplary" enterprise.
As state media wrote, "in the distant year 1918, the young Soviet republic decided to establish a state printing house by nationalizing and merging three private printing houses. Despite difficult wartime and postwar years, the collapse of the Soviet Union, and other historical events, the printing house did not cease its work for a single day."
But this too came to an end; December 31, 2025, became the last day of the Polotsk printing house's existence.
Earlier in the same year 2025, due to financial problems, the Hlybokaye printing house, located in a building next to the editorial office of the district newspaper "Vesnik Hlybochchynny," was also on the verge of liquidation. It mainly prints stationery with state symbols but sometimes also fulfills private orders from local poets, writers, and other creative individuals, producing books and brochures for them.
Throughout the year, this printing house faced financial difficulties. It repeatedly appeared on the "black list" of debtors but quickly emerged from it. According to the website of the Ministry of Taxes and Duties, the Hlybokaye printing house settled its last debt on January 13, 2026.
