In Orsha district, a man was fishing in the Dnieper and ended up with a criminal charge
In Orsha district, a criminal case has been initiated against a 63-year-old local resident, who is suspected of illegal fishing of a species listed in the Red Book of Belarus.

According to information from the Investigative Committee, on June 5, the man was fishing on the bank of the Dnieper with two fishing rods during a period when a fishing ban was in effect in the Vitebsk region. During a raid, employees of the Inspectorate for Wildlife and Plant Protection found a bag with his catch in the grass and called an investigative-operational group.
The man's two fishing rods and the caught fish were confiscated. According to the results of an ichthyological examination, it was a common barbel — a species listed in the Red Book of Belarus.
Specialists estimated the damage caused to the environment at more than 6.4 thousand rubles.
A criminal case has been initiated against the man for illegal fishing. The investigation is ongoing.
During the seasonal fishing ban, only amateur fishing with one rod with one hook or one spinning rod with one artificial lure is allowed, and only during daylight hours, from the bank or an artificial structure, without entering the water. Fishing for species listed in the Red Book is completely prohibited, and if prohibited methods or gear are used, environmental damage is calculated at a triple rate.
